EVAN-MOOR'S NEW VOCABULARY FUNDAMENTALS HELPS STUDENTS MASTER CRITICAL VOCABULARY SKILLS

(March 25, 2010) – Evan-Moor Educational Publishers introduces Vocabulary Fundamentals, a series of six titles for grades 1–6+ that helps students practice vocabulary skills and concepts such as synonyms, antonyms, homophones, heteronyms, word roots, prefixes, suffixes, and more. “Vocabulary development is an essential piece of any language arts program,” explains Evan- Moor Publisher and Co-founder, Joy Evans, “Vocabulary Fundamentals, is a highly-structured series that provides teachers with targeted practice on the critical vocabulary skills they need to become strong and successful readers.” Each book in the series for grades 1–6+, consists of 42 three-page units of scaffolded skill practice that help teachers support the various levels of learners within one classroom.
Each skill unit features:
• A student-friendly explanation of the skill.
• Activity pages to practice the skill.
• Either a cloze activity or a test in multiple-choice format for practice and review.
Teachers can use the activities sequentially to help students progress from easier to more complex practice on the same skill, or individualize instruction by targeting the specific vocabulary concepts their students need extra practice on. “One of my favorite parts of this series are the Word Play activities,” said Evans. “These present students with creative, playful ways to build vocabulary skills and help them develop an interest in exploring word meanings.” Available now, each grade-level edition contains 176 reproducible pages and is priced at $24.99.
